Owner Tim Nunan specialises in latte art and he is passionate about experiencing life to its fullest. Tim sees so many people "who drift through life, zombie-like, working for unknown ends, saving for an unknown distant future, and I want to shake them all and scream. I feel the most real view of life is through the lens of pain, hardship, struggle, sadness and loss—and that’s why I love fitness training. It’s an opportunity to experience, to get out of your routine, push your body, and genuinely live at your limit—even for just a few minutes each day."
As a coach, Tim enjoys being witness to our athletes’ personal achievements. "I honestly feel that the real work is always done by the individual who gets to the gym every day and pushes themselves to the limit," he says. "The real pleasure is facilitating this and watching the development and improvement and satisfaction that follows."
His own athletic background includes his roles as a National Division 1 Rugby Player in the UK, International caps for Arabian Gulf in Dubai 7s and South Africa 7s, and as a South East UK Natural Bodybuilding Association Champion in 2009. "I have always loved team sport and fitness," he says. "I have worked with top coaches in teams for many years, and know how important the group dynamic is to really getting the most out of my training. This led me to develop Bootcamp Qatar, because I know people love to train together and have fun, but also be instructed in the most effective and safe way to exercise and achieve their goals." He became interested in CrossFit personally while running Bootcamp and immediately wanted to bring it to his clients.
When he’s not in the gym, Tim likes to challenge himself. "I am a firm believer in the necessity of work, struggle and hardship to genuinely appreciate rest, riches and ease. I like to learn new things, take on physical and mental challenges and get a greater understanding of myself. This year, I entered and completed the Marathon des Sables, and I am open to suggestions for what to do next."
